NASC Success in Torbay Triathlon 2019

 Newton Abbot swimmers started Easter Day with the triple challenge of swimming, cycling and running at the Torbay Triathlon held at Clennon. With race temperatures of 25oC it was tough going for our young competitors.

2019 Interclub Results

Devon Interclub 3rd March 2019
Newton Abbot came 5th out of the 10 teams entered. After chasing Paignton’s tail for most of the contest for 3rd place, the gap widened and then we were crept up on and overtaken by Devonport and had to settle for 5th. Results as below.

Another fantastic day at Life Centre for the final day of the Devon Champs and more medals:

Finalists included Paul Griffin,  Erin Curtis, Felicity Lamont-Tuckett and Bella Dawson- who all swam brilliantly.

Medallists included:

- 3rd Nathan Locke 200m Free
- 1st Jed Griffin 200m Breast
- 3rd Bryony Hayward 50 free
- 1st Brooke Leaman 50 free
- 2nd Henry Gascogne 50 free
- 3rd Bryony Hayward 100 fly
14 yr old, Jed Griffin achieved 7th place in the 200m Breast overall championship super final.

Some excellent swimming. Well done team NASC and thank you to Jac, Kevin and all the volunteers and officials.

Fantastic day at the Devon Champs with many of our swimmers reaching finals.

2019 Devon County Swimming Championships- First Weekend

2019 has begun in style with lots of medals over the weekend of 12th and 13th January!
There were some amazing swims from Newton Abbot on the Saturday at the first Long Distance event of the year.
 Medals for:
Georgie Thorn, 1st in the 17 and over age group,
Nathan Locke, 2nd in the 16yr age group,
Felicity Lamont Tuckett, 2nd in the 13yr age group,
and Alec Farquharson (16) and Henry Gascoyne (12), 3rd in their respective age groups.

Then on Sunday 13th January:
Gold for Bryony Hayward in the 10-11yr 100m Backstroke
Gold for Nathan Locke in the 16yr 100m Backstroke
Silver for Jed Griffin in the 14yr 50m Breaststroke
Bronze for Georgie Thorn in the 17&over 200m IM and 8th in the championship final
Bronze for Felicity Lamont Tuckett in the 13yr 50m Breaststroke

Well done to all swimmers!

2019 Devon County Age group Finals

SATURDAY 19TH JANUARY

Another fantastic day at Devon Champs with a plethora of medals! Alec Farquharson achieved a 3rd in the Championship 400m IM and Georgianna Thorn also achieved a 3rd in 200m freestyle championship final. Ella Lamont Tuckett reached the Championship final of the 200m breast and achieved 8th in a new PB. In the 50m back age group finals, Bryony Hayward and Nathan Locke both achieved their second Gold Medal of the championships and Daisy Haslam-Ivens achieved TWO medals- A gold in the 200m freestyle age group and a 3rd place in the 50m back. Wow! An amazing day! Well done everyone who entered today, especially those achieving PB’s. Also thanks to all the volunteers, officials, team managers and coaches. More to come....

- Felicity Lamont Tuckett 3rd in 100m breast age group final, 3rd 100m IM age group final AND 2nd 400m Free age group final

National Arena League Round 3 2018

The final of Division 1 in the National Arena League took place on Saturday 8th December 2018 at Newport International Sports Village.

Newton Abbot finished 4th in Division 1!

This was fought in Hutton Moor (again) on Saturday 10th November. We were seeded in the fastest lane (L4) next to Severnside Tritons in L5. It was a really exciting gala with the two top teams neck and neck until the last few races! Newton Abbot finished second by just 8 points to Severnside. Final points as follows:

National Arena League Round 1 2018

"We had a great first Round of the Arena League - Western Division 1 for
2018 on the 13th October.With a close battle with Street and District
throughout the competition,we pulled ahead of them to end up overall
winners by 12 points .
Multiple winners and high placed finishes brought this great result
which puts us joint top of the League going into Round 2 .This gala will
be at Weston Super Mare again on the 10 November with a 2 pm warm up."

Medal for Brooke at SESW Age Groups

Congratulations to Brooke Leaman who qualified for two finals at the Swim England SW Age Groups in Bristol. She placed 3rd in the 50m Backstroke to secure bronze and was an admirable 6th in the 200m Backstroke.

There were further finalist appearances for two other NASC swimmers.
Club Captain Georgianna Thorn finished just outside the medals in 4th place in the 200m Buttterfly in a new PB. She also finished 9th in the 800m Free and 10th in the 400m Free.
Emma Lamont-Tuckett qualified for the final of the 100m Breaststroke where she finished 9th setting a huge new PB.

An awesome achievement by all girls in what was their 1st time competing at Regional level

Williams Shield Victory 2018

  

It was a rare victory for Newton Abbot in the annual Williams Shield gala, with Paignton acting as hosts at the Clennon Valley pool. In fact it was the first win since 2008!

The trophy is contested by Paignton, Brixham, Torquay, Oddicombe and Newton Abbot over 39 individual and relay events.

Tiverton Junior Gala, March 25th 2018

Junior Team Captains Charlie Noyce and Freya Cashman receive the 3rd place trophy on behalf of the Newton Abbot team from Terry Fullick in this Junior Inter-club gala.

 

British Championships 2018, Edinburgh

Flora Success in 100m Breaststroke - 2nd March 2018

Flora Perkin qualified 3rd for the Junior Final of the Women's 100m Breaststroke at the 2018 British Championships in Edinburgh.

Then, in the final itself, she swam brilliantly to come from 6th at the turn (34.46s first 50m) to finish 2nd in a Personal Best Time of 1:11.63, beating her previous best by over 2 seconds.
