NEWTON ABBOT Ladies are through to the final of the Devon Knockout Cup after battering Barnstaple 15-2 in the semi-final at Lympstone.
Newton started well at their winter training base, and quick passing between Laura Shears and Katie Trist saw Shears score the first of her eight goals in just 10 seconds.
Her second came 30 seconds later, while Louise McGowan and Jess Shears also scored in the first quarter.
In the second-quarter, both teams scored within a minute of the start – McGowan and Trist scoring a goal apiece in addition to a good goal from Laura Shears.
Paris James, 12, also got on the score sheet in the third, and Jess Shears completed her hat-trick after Barnstaple missed a penalty.
Newton's line-up was completed by Amber James and Laura-Beth Morrison, with staunch goalkeeping from the experienced Lyn Shears, who provided a steadying influence to Newton's enthusiastic youngsters.
