Newton’s u 17 side lost their Devon knock out cup final by 10 goals to 12, in a closely fought encounter away at Exeter Pyramids.

Newton’s squad comprised Alex Morrison in goal, Tom McLeman, Ryan Rogers, Thomas Wadeley Jones, Ed Glanvile, Jack Beer, Tommy Whiting and Sam Webber. |

Exeter got off to the better start, leaving Newton with a 2 goal deficit within 1 ½ minutes, but Newton’s captain Jack Beer pulled one goal back and Sam Webber added another for Newton before Exeter scored again to take a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. A good goal from Glanville levelled the score at the start of Q2, Exeter again then edged ahead, and despite a further goal from Glanville, the home side led 7-4 at the end of that quarter. |

| A hat-trick from Webber in Q3, together with a goal from Rogers still left Newton trailing by 2 goals at the end of the 3rd quarter and despite a battling final session, with 2 further goals from Glanville, Newton couldn’t overcome Exeter’s lead. However, this was a good overall team performance from an under-strength Newton squad, who well deserved their finalists’ medals. |
