Newton Abbot u15 team win the Devon knock out cup final
2009

Newton Abbot u15 team won the Devon knock out cup final, with a good win by 14 goals to 5 away at Barnstaple.

Goalkeeper Ben Gauntlett kept a clean sheet for the visitors for the first 2 quarters, as Newton took command of the game from the start, with Laura Shears scoring Newton’s opening goal within 30 seconds.  Newton were 7-0 up at the halfway stage, through goals from George Fearnley, Thomas Wadeley-Jones, Tommy Whiting and a good hat trick from Sam Webber.

Shears, Fearnley and Ellis Abbot each scored at the start of Q3, as Newton extended their lead to
10-0, but there was a great deal of action in this quarter as Barnstaple pulled 3 goals back before Shears (completing her hat trick) and Wadeley Jones, scored again, bringing the score at the end of that quarter to 12-3.  Each team scored twice in the final quarter, with Webber extending his match tally to 5, and this was an excellent result and good all-round performance from Newton Abbot.  Completing Newton’s line-up were: Paris James, Ryan Rogers, Archie Hailstone. Laura-Beth Morrison, Harrison Boult and Owen Turner.
