TEIGNBRIDGE TETRATHLON - 2007

Newton Abbot Swimming Club entered a 24-strong team for the 2007 Teignbridge Tetrathlon, held at Dawlish Leisure Centre, and came away as overall winners of the event, earning a £200 prize for the Club as well as the Tetrathlon Trophy. Each of the 63 competitors entered 4 events, Swimming, Rowing, Running and Cycling and the results for each event were combined to give an overall score. 

Entrants were divided by age groups:  In School Year 5/6, Sammy Basham won the Cycling, came 2nd in the Swimming and was 3rd in the Running; Charlotte Wright won the Swimming and came 2nd in the Rowing; Brogan Mace came 2nd in the Rowing and Emma Silk 3rd in the Swimming.  In the Year 5/6 Boys’ event, Tom Normington won the Cycling and came 2nd in the Swimming, finishing as his age group’s winner. Ben Gauntlett achieved  2 wins (Swimming and Running), and Dan Hughes two 2nd places (Running and Rowing). Peter Cock gained three 3rd places.
Final positions in this age group:-Girls: - 2nd Sammy Basham, 3rd Charlotte Wright, 4th Brogan Mace, 5th Emma Silk. 
Boys:- 1st Tom Normington, 2nd Ben Gauntlett,  4th Dan Hughes, 5th Peter Cock, 8th Tom Cosford.

Moving on to the year 7/8 age group, Nicole Wickens’ wins in both Swimming and Cycling secured her 1st place overall.  Lara Cosford was 2nd in both Rowing and Swimming and Chloe Kemp produced a good all-round performance, finishing in the top 3 in all 4 events. Ryan Rogers won the boys’ Swimming and Rowing, Tommy Whiting won the running and was 2nd in the Swimming, and Guy Bennett came 3rd in the Swimming.
Final positions in this age group: Girls:- 1st Nicole Wickens, 3rd Chloe Kemp, 4th Beth Jones, 5th Alysha Prowse, 6th Jess Twose, 7th Lara Cosford,  8th Abi Carne, 9th Abbie Clarke.  The boys’ final placings were: 1st Tommy Whiting, 2nd Ryan Rogers, 8th Guy Bennett.
In the older age groups, Holly Willing’s wins in the Swimming and Rowing took her to 1st place overall for years 9/10.  Adam Caunter’s 3 top 3 finishes earned him the position of top boy and Tom Carne’s two 3rd places earned him 3rd place overall.  Tom Burford won the Year 11/12 Boys’ event.
