NEWTON ABBOT travelled to Kingsbridge in the first round
of this year's
Cornwall
and West Devon League.
Competing against the home side,
Penzance
and a strong Plymouth Leander team, Newton
Abbot battled hard and came away with a well-earned second place.
Jess Twose won the girls' 11u 50m free (PB), Sophie
Jenkins the 13u 50m Fly (PB), and
boys' captain Richard Glanville had two good
wins in the 15u 100m Free (PB) and 15u 100m Back. Twose and Guy Bennett won the
11u 25m fly races.
Max Morrison finished 2nd in the 100m Free, just one
second separating all 4 swimmers. Further individual 2nd places went to: Sophie
Irons, Benjamin Jordan, Becky Cooper, Chloe Kemp, Tommy Whiting, Ed Glanville,
Beth Jones, George Fice, Jess Shears, Jack Beer.
There were wins in the relay races for the 11u girls
Freestyle and Medley team (Abbie Carne, Chloe Kemp, Laura Beth Morrison and
Twose) and for the 11u boys' Medley team (Bennett, Fice, Whiting and Jamie
Peters).
Also competing for Newton Abbot were Lara Cosford, Emma
Garrett, Rachel Jack, Tom McLeman, Tom Burford, Laura Trist, Jonathon Trist,
and Gareth Cowell
