Newton Abbot Swimming Club came out on top in an exciting gala at Clennon Valley, Paignton in the 2nd round of this year’s Exeter and East Devon Mini League.

This Team Relay event is always exciting for spectators and all the competing teams were cheered on by several enthusiastic supporters.  Newton’s 14u girls’ squad won the Butterfly, Medley and Backstroke relays (from Jess Shears, Sophie Jenkins, Holly Willing, Emma Garrett, Sophie Irons, Chloe Kemp).  Newton’s 10u boys had a successful gala: their team (from Jamie Bishop, George Fitter, Guy Bennett, Tom Normington, Ben Gauntlett, Peter Cock, and Tom Cosford) won all 4 of their events.  The 10u girls (from Sammy Basham, Charlotte Wright, Abbie Clarke, Laura Beth Morrison, Evie Bailey, Emma Silk, Yelena Alton, Abbi Carne, Anya Bishop) won the Medley, Breast and Backstroke relays.

The 12u girls ( Lara Cosford, Chloe Kemp, Nicole  Wickens, Laura Morrison) won their Medley relay, and the boys (Niall Grant, Jacob Irons, Ryan Rogers, Gabriel Bailey, Jamie Peters)  the Breast and Medley races.  Newton rounded off the evening with a win on the 16 x 25m Canon freestyle Relay, when the swimmers included Jack Beer, Edward Glanville, Katie Trist, Amber James, Max Morrison and Jonathon Trist.

Also competing for Newton Abbot:-Sebastian van Burley, Tom McLeman, Paris James, Angharad Morgan, Elin Morgan, Ben Davies, Adam Boulton, Danny Williams.

Final Gala results: 1) Newton Abbot 133 points; 2) Dawlish 129; 3) Exmouth 110; 4) Paignton 103; 5) Torquay Leander 85.
