| Newton Abbot Swimming Club made a good start to the 2007
Exeter and East Devon Mini League campaign, with a fine
win at home competing against Exmouth, Paignton, Torquay
Leander and Dawlish. Newton also swam a non points-scoring
B team, to give their younger swimmers some competitive
experience.
Individual race winners included Rachel
Jack, Becky Cooper, Jonathon Trist, Chloe Kemp, Tom
Normington, Emma Redford, Lara Cosford, Sophie Irons,
Adam Boulton, Gabriel Bailey, Abi Carne, Emma Garrett
and Sophie Jenkins. Newton were successful in 11 of
the 19 relay events, with wins in both Freestyle and
Medley Relays for their 10u girls (Charlotte Wright,
Abbie Clarke, Emma Silk, Sammy Basham), 14u girls (Jess
Shears, Sophie Irons, Becky Cooper, Emma Garrett), Boys’
16u team (Ben Davies, Tom Burford, Boulton, Trist) and
girls 12u team (Lauren Thomas, Nicole Wickens, Lara
Cosford, Chloe Kemp, Rachel Cooper). The 10u boys (Jamie
Bishop, Tom Carne, Tom Normington, Peter Cock) won the
medley relay and the 16u girls (Rachel Jack, Katie Trist,
Amber James, Sarah Huxham) the Freestyle Relay.
Newton sealed their victory with a win
in the final event, the mixed 8 x 2 canon, swum by Normington,
Carne, Ryan Rogers, Cosford, Ed Glanville, Garrett,
J Trist and R Jack.
Also competing for Newton were Tom Cosford,
Jack Beer, Sam Fice, Jacob Irons
