2006 Devon Development Galas

Newton Abbot’s younger swimmers achieved several top
6 places at the disrupted 2006 Devon Development Galas, which
were completed in December. 12 year old Sophie Jenkins achieved
a string of good results (1 5th place, 2 4ths 2 3ds and 2
wins in the 100m Fly and 200m Breaststroke) which earned her
the award for the 4th best girl in her age group. 13 year
old Jess Shears came 5th in the 100m Free and 3rd in the 100m
Back. 12 year old Sam Fice came 4th in the 200m Breast and
Ed Glanville 3rd in the 100m IM and 2nd in both the 100m Fly
and Back.
In the 10 year old age group, Chloe Kemp’s results
earned her the award for 2nd best overall in her age group.
She came 5th in the 200m Back, 4th in the 100m IM, 3rd in
the 200m Fly and won the 200m Breast. Jess Twose gained 3
2nd places (200m IM, Fly and Back); Jamie Peters achieved
3 top 6 places. Lauren Thomas and Nicole Wickens also achieved
top 6 places in this age group, with Thomas finishing 6th
overall in the age group. Harry Morse came 6th in the 200m
Breast and 11 year old Gabriel Bailey 3rd in the same event.
Chloe Roberts, also 11, gained one 6th and one 5th place and
came 3rd in the 200m Fly.
Jamie Bishop was 5th best boy in the 9 years age group, as
was Charlotte Wright for the girls; Emma Silk was
4th best girl overall in this age group, achieved
4 top 5 places: her best result was 2nd in the 200m
Fly. Yelena Alton and Sammy Basham also competed
in this age group, Basham in the 200m Free.
