Devon County Sprint Results for N.A.S.C.

 

Newton entered 26 swimmers at the 50m Devon County Sprint event, most of who hadn’t swum at the earlier Devon Championships. They achieved a tremendous 55 personal bests with some exceptional performances across all four strokes.

10 year old Millie Price gained the best placing with two gold medals in the freestyle and breaststroke, one silver for fly and a fourth in backstroke. This was almost matched by 9 year old Oliver Palmer who collected a gold in the breaststroke (11 sec PB), a silver in the freestyle and two bronze medals with another 11 second PB.

There were several swimmers who broke into the top 6 placings – notably Matthew Penney 3rd, Emily Palmer 3rd, Ben Guantlett 3rd, Katie Squirrell 4th,4th,5th,5th, Rachael Cooper 2nd,5th,6th, John Roberts 5th,6th, Abbie Clarke 5th in fly with Molly Burford 6th also in the fly with both producing 4 amazing P.B.’s,

Clara Smith aged 10 deserves particular mention for producing an awesome 15 second PB in her fly stroke.

Other athletes taking part with some attending for the first time included Yelena Alton, Harrison Boult, Connor Brodie, Kate Burford, Robyn Elliot-Ogdon, Ben Gardner, Gemma Gardner, Ruth Hailstone, Gabby Martin, Alex Roberts, John Roberts, Emmy Shaddick, Emma Silk, Laura Silk, Rachel Spooner, Owen Turner.
