| Newton Abbot Swimming Club travelled to Plymouth’s Mayflower Centre for their first round gala in the 2008 National Swimming League. Despite fielding an under-strength squad owing to last-minute injury and illness, Newton’s swimmers performed well and finished in 5th place. | Niall Grant won the 13u boys 50m Breast in a Personal Best time. Laura Shears secured a hat-trick of 2nd places in the Open 100m Fly, 13u 50m Back and 50m Fly. Richard Glanville came 2nd in the Open 100m Back, as did Benjamin Gauntlett in the 11u 50m Free (PB). Further Personal Best times were achieved by: Sophie Jenkins, Sammy Basham, Anya Bishop, Millie Price, Sophie Irons, Nicole Wickens, Becky Cooper, Benjamin Jordan, Jack Beer, Jacob Irons, Edward Glanville, Adam Boulton and Sebastian Vaughan Burleigh. |
