Club Annual Gala Day 1
11th September 2010

NASC held their first day of the annual gala on Saturday 11th September.  Some fantastic swimming times and pb’s were achieved from swimmers. 

In the 9 & Under group Hallie Squirrell competed in the 50m freestyle  coming in first with a 7 second pb with a time of 38.40 followed in by Brooke Twose in 41.80 and Amelia Booth third with 42.01. Molly Burford (10) first with 37.03 tailed very closed by Robyn Elliott-Ogden second with 38.17. Jess Saunders-Wyatt (11) first with 33.16, Katie Squirrell second with 34.57 and Oliva Mills third with 34.81. A very close race was the 12 year old girls with Rachel Spooner first 31.21, Emma Silk 31.22 and Clara Smith third 31.43.  In the 14-15 year old girls Abbie Clarke first 30.22, Chloe Kemp second 30.56 and Nicole Wickens third 30.81. 

The boys nine & under 50 m fly event with Thomas Manley first 55.60, Oliver Wright second 57.04 and Matthew Ramsey third with 1.00.62.  The 11 year old boys Eric Perkin 39.99 and Oliver Palmer second with 42.00 both with good pb’s.  The 12 – 13 year old boys Connor Brodie first 31.19, Jack Pearson second 36.18 and Harrison Boult third 36.47.  In the 16 & over group it was great to see a return to the club Edward Glanville coming in with a time of 29.44 in the 50m fly.

In the 11 year old girls Olivia Mills gained a 6 second pb in the 50m backstroke along with Lauren Reed a massive 10 second pb returning after injury.  Charlotte Burleigh competed for the first time in this event with a proud place of 8th overall.

Emma Silk took out first place in the girls 12-13 year old Backstroke in 36.74, followed closely by Brogan Mace second with 37.20 and Clara Smith third in 37.33.  Seth Perkin second in the boys 9 & under breast stroke followed in by Haydn Woolley with third place 58.45 both obtaining good pb’s. In the boys 50m breast stroke 10 year old race Thomas Amey first place, Jacob Cacchione second place.  The 11 year old boys saw Eric Perkin first with 45.91, Oliver Palmer second in 52.10 and Jack Cook third with 1.02.35.

The boys 12-13 year old 50m breast was tightly raced with Jonathan Burleigh first in 41.60, Harrison Bolt joint second place with Dan Hughes in 42.55.  While the 14-15 year old boys saw Sebastian Burleigh first in 34.68 and Bastian Harvey second in 40.02.

The girls 11 year old 100m fly saw Jess Sanders-Wyatt first with 1.25.44 a massive pb of 16.69, Katie Squirrell second 1.38.86 and Georgie Shaddick third with 2.05.61 both with pb’s.  Beverley Cock first in the 11 year old 100m breast stroke and a 8 second pb with 1.48.79 on the clock, Sanders-Wyatt second 1.52.07 and Squirrell third 1.52.20. Good pb’s from Laura Silk and Reed in this race also. Sofiya Cox had a good race in the 12 -13 year old girls 100m breast stroke coming in third overall in 1.36.70 and Rosie Allen 4th with 1.37.34. The girls 14-15 year old 100m breast stroke race, Chloe Kemp first 1.25.19, Charlotte Wright second 1.29.87 and Abbie Clarke third 1.38.11.

 

The boys 12 – 13 year old freestyle saw an amazing time from Connor Brodie of 1.01.34 first, followed in by Harrison Boult second with 1.11.73 and third Jack Pearson 1.12.00. A pb for Brodie of 8.39 seconds.

Other swimmers competing at the annual gala were Charlotte Mitchell, Georgia Smith, Cara Morton, Flora Perkin and Erin Throgmorton-Appleby for whom this was their first big swimming gala. Madeleine Brett (11) achieved a pb of 1.78 in the 50m free.  Emily Palmer and Kate Burford both achieved pb’s in the girls 12-13 year old 50m free.  Our girls club captain Holly Willing (16) combined racing with helping out on poolside with our younger swimmers along with Sophie Cooper helping our younger swimmers time keeping.  Will Amey and Samuel Booth (12-13 boys) both achieved pb’s in the 50m fly.  Gabby Martin and Emmy Shaddick (14-15 girls) came 4th and 5th respectively in the 50m back stroke.  Owen Turner obtaining a pb in the 100m free 12-13 boys.  Clara Smith and Emily Palmer 5th and 6th respectively in the girls 12-13 100m breast stroke. While Will Amey in the boys 12-13 a 3.77 pb in the 100 free and Joe Millward-Nicholls a 1.5 pb and Henry May a 4 second pb.
