Swimmers from Newton Abbot have been competing in various Open Meets, with a good degree of success.
Guy Bennett (12) and Ryan Rogers (13) competed in the Exeter City Sprint Meet: Bennett was a finalist in the 50m Fly and achieved 2 Personal Best times. Rogers took the silver medal in the 100m Individual Medley with a 2 second PB and demonstrated his current good form as he reached the finals of all four 50m events, with PBs in each. This excellent performance gained Rogers 2 gold medals (Freestyle and Backstroke) and a further silver in the Fly.
Meanwhile, 12 year olds Niall Grant and Alysha Prowse travelled to Penzance to take part in the Carn Brea Open Meet. Prowse took the bronze medal in the 200m Breast and came 2nd in the 100m Breaststroke and 200m IM. Grant won the bronze medal in the 200m IM, but went one better in his favoured breaststroke events, coming 2nd in the 100m and 200m races, achieving ASA South West qualifying times in both. |
