Newton Abbot Swimming Club had qualified 5th for the final of this event and travelled away to the home of the Bodmin Dragons, the home team using their advantage to good effect as they eventually took the honours in a thrilling final. Truro City, Dinnaton, Kelly College & Caradon were the other finalists.

DEVON DEVELOPMENTS SWIMMING SUCCESS FOR NEWTON ABBOT |

|
Newton Abbot Swimming Club entered 24 swimmers in the Devon County Development Gala recently held at Exeter and Tiverton and came away with fantastic results. There were 55 occasions where they had swimmers finishing in the top 6 including thirteen 1st places, eleven 2nd places and ten 3rd placings, all delivered by achieving 85 Personal Best times.
It was a chance for some swimmers to enter the ‘competitive’ environment for the first time and for others to excel after recovery from injury.

Devon Championship Swimming success for Newton Abbot. |

Newton Abbot had 32 swimmers with Devon qualifying times in some 110 events throughout the individual championships held over three weekends at Plymouth, Exeter and Tiverton.
Between them they amassed 69 PB’s and reached 24 finals – an excellent effort with the likes of Plymouth Leander and Kelly College fielding very strong teams.

TORQUAY LEANDER CHRISTMAS OPEN MEET |

Newton Abbot retained the “Top Club” award at this year’s Torquay Leander Christmas Open Meet, with an impressive display across all age groups. Particularly noteworthy were the performances of 11 year old Ben Gauntlett and 13 year old Ryan Rogers, who both reached the finals of every event. Rogers also received the award for best-performing boy in his age group; 13 year old Niall Grant was 3rd best boy as was 12 year old Tommy Whiting. Three Newton girls also featured in the top 3 in their age groups: Nicole Wickens (12) came 3rd overall, with Alysha Prowse (13) and Millie Price (10) each achieving 2nd places. read more ... |

We did it! |

We won the second round of the National Swimming League held at Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday against strong opposition.
Our team of the fastest swimmers in the club gave their all and swam their hearts out to produce a fantastic result. Lots of personal bests and some fantastic relay performances. And no disqualifications!
We had a large band of supporters who travelled with us and provided great vocal support! It was really good to have so many supporters - the swimmers really appreciated it.
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
Well done to ALL the swimmers who took part. You were amazing!!

For the second year running, NASC were the top club with several individual places across all age ranges. All athletes were required to swim, run, row and cycle and through sheer grit and determination managed to take home the winning club award of £125.

I would like to say very well done to ALL our swimmers who took part in the final round of the East Devon Mini-League on Saturday 4th October at Riverside, Exeter.
The results were as follows:
1st Newton Abbot 186
2nd Dawlish 155.5
3rd Torquay 155
4th Sidmouth and Honiton 131.5
5th Exmouth 123
Paignton were unable to attend
As you can see we won by over 30 points. Well done to the younger swimmers who were swimming for the first time for the club. All of the swimmers showed great team spirit and produced some great results. The club is very proud of you all.

Congratulations to all our swimmers who swam on Saturday at Plymouth.
A fantastic team effort. Well done!!
Our side was depleted due to injury and illness, and some of the swimmers that did attend were not feeling 100%. Having said that, everyone gave their all and there were some fantastic personal bests and some very exciting close races. We finished 5th against some tough opposition. The next round is on Saturday November 8th - venue to be advised.
The results/times of this round are on the noticeboard. Ian will be offering time trials to ANY swimmers who wish to compete for a place. Please speak to Ian if you interested in doing a time trial.

Newton Abbot Swimming Club fielded 3 swimmers at the recent Devon County Masters Championships. Ian Price won 1 bronze and 2 silver medals, Shara Shaddick won 7 gold medals, Newton's Philip Whiting, won both the 50m and 100m Backstroke events.
