Newsletter
Are there any budding journalists out there? Do you think you could do any better? Communication plays an important part in the success of our club and we feel the newsletter is presently underutilised. If you think you can take it to the next level please contact Nicky Cosford.

Swim Shop
A huge thank you to Karen and David Bennett who will, regrettably, no longer be running the shop. They will be sorely missed, especially by the girls who were always keen to embrace the latest fashion trends! If you have ordered anything from Karen recently could you please see her to settle any outstanding bills.

We would be thrilled to hear from anyone who is prepared to take on the swim shop and suggest they see David or Karen who will endeavour to explain exactly what is involved.

Annual Club Gala
(The most important date in your diary)

Congratulations to all our swimmers.
A full list of results will be posted on the notice board.
Our presentation evening is on Saturday 26th January, 2008, at
Newton Abbot Race Course
(who have given the venue free of charge. We are very grateful for their generous support year after year).

In order to reflect the ASA standard it was decided last year that our club gala should be updated and include distance swims i.e. 200m, 400m and 800m races. However, the club has no history of these events and there are therefore no trophies to be awarded at this time. Similarly there are no trophies for the over 12s in the 50m events.
Whilst the committee is making every effort to correct this situation we would like to draw your attention to the huge cost which must be borne by our non profit making club. Engraving for the trophies already in our possession cost £350 last year alone.

This year it is proposed that medals are awarded for the distance races whilst we attempt to make up the shortfall in the 50m and 100m events. The minimum cost for a basic medal is £1 and each additional perpetual trophy will cost approximately £20.
To help us with this expense we are asking if anyone is prepared to make a donation towards the cost of medals or trophies. Perhaps you know of a business or company that would be willing to provide some corporate sponsorship.

Trophies outstanding are:
Boys & Girls, under 9s, 100m IM.
Boys & Girls, 12/13 age group, 50m, all 4 strokes.
Boys & Girls, 14/15/16 age group, 50m, all 4 strokes.
Girls, under11s, 100m, all 4 strokes.

Any amount however small would be much appreciated. Donations may be made anonymously or alternatively we would be happy for you to dedicate your trophy to someone associated with the club. If you feel you can help, please contact Nicky Cosford or Geoff Garrett.

Swimmers Meeting
Coombshead College sports hall
Tuesday 2nd December 6pm
For one week only Land training is cancelled. Hurray!!! Instead, come and meet your new team manager. Liz has some interesting new motivational strategies she would like to implement. Please make every effort to attend this very important team building session.

Christmas is coming!!
For all your Christmas shopping please remember to visit ‘Buy AT’ on the NASC web site. There are hundreds of retailers from Amazon to M&S to Zurich Insurance.
You pay exactly the same price as on the retailer’s main sites, often lower than on the High St. The commission earned comes out of the retailer’s profit margin and goes toward our fundraising target. You can also use the search facility to compare a product between retailers to help find the best price.
